Beachy-beach…
August 12th, 2004Sigh… I guess if I blogged more often, I wouldn’t need to do so many “catch up” posts… ah well… :) I have a good excuse though… I’ve been on VACATION!!!! Yay!
Last week, Kris and I, along with her parents and brother, went down to Emerald Isle, NC, for a few days of fun in the sun… and at least one of fun in the hurricane… :) All in all, I think a good time was had by all…
Day one was pretty much your normal check-in day… Kris and I ended up getting there first (personally, I think it was becuase my car computer routed us on a way different from the “primary route”, so we didn’t spend too much time in the usual Saturday beach traffic…. Kris says its just because her parents hit lots of traffic on I-95 between DC and Richmond…whatever… ;)), so we picked up the keys and found the house… Unfortunately, I put the wrong street into the car pc, so we had to find it the old fashioned way… but that worked out just fine… :) The rest of the Caudles arrived about an hour later and we spent the rest of the evening getting settled and having dinner and stuff…
The next day was spent playing on the beach and doing a little kayak in the sound and other such fun things…. Monday and Tuesday were both a little rainy thanks to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Alex, so a lot of those days were spend reading and playing cards… tho we did get out and play in the storm a bit on Tuesday morning….
Wednesday we went out on a head boat (the Captain Stacey IV) and did a little fishing off the continental shelf… This kinda alternated between being
really cool and being really not so cool (4/5ths of our group got a little sea sick)… but all in all it was a lot of fun… Check out the link above for a pic of the 7.5 pound, 25 inch long grouper I caught… ;)
Anywho, that afternoon was spent doing more reading, card playing (mainly rummy and “crazy, agressive solitare”), and playing on the beach…. Thursday we did a little fishing off the pier (results for me were not quite so impressive)… That was a lot of fun too…. I think I ended up catching the most fish, Kris caught the first, and her brother Joey caught the biggest…
Friday, Kris and I packed up and headed to Raleigh, NC to catch the Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morissette in concert at the Walnut Creek Pavilion… The concert really cool… Alanis’ preformance was pretty good (solid, enjoyable, a good mix of her new stuff and her old stuff… but a little “pre-packaged”), but BNL were incredible! I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun at a concert… And, weirdest thing was we were able to get into and out of the pavilion without having to wait in a HUGE line of cars…
Now, I’m just waiting around for the concert to be available for download. :)
Anywho, we got back to C’ville on Saturday… Sunday was spent repainting Kris’ room, and then it was back to work on Monday…
Luckilly, I’m only working until next Wednesday (though I am probably working Saturday)… then I’m taking a couple days off to go visit my sister in Seattle… YAY!!!!
Ah well, I think that basically gets us caught up to now… :) If you want to check out the pics from the beach, you can check out the album here.
